The Lowcountry Lowlinemore info
Since it’s conception, DesignWorks has been the lead designer in the planning of the Lowcountry Lowline. More than just a park, The Lowline is 1.7 miles of abandoned railway track and neglected highway corridor along the backbone of the Charleston Peninsula that will be transformed into a park space and green infrastructure. The Lowline will highlight the surrounding neighborhoods, address city-wide flooding, and give pedestrians and bicyclists a safe, dedicated path.
The conceptual master plan not only included preliminary planning and conceptual design of the park, but culminated in a printed Master plan which was formally adopted by the Charleston City Council in December of 2020. In addition to providing the framework from which future designs will be created, the Master Plan is also a critical tool for the Friends to use in fundraising and marketing.
